Find out about the history of Nafplio

Venetian architecture, influences from the East, monuments of the Greek Revolution and many other historical sites characterise the first capital of Greece. Visit the sights of Nafplio and travel back in time. Take some time to visit the Porta della Terraferma or Land Gate, the initial point of entry to the old town, the church of Agios Spiridon where Ioannis Kapodistrias, the first governor of Greece, was murdered, Vouleftikon, the first parliament of Greece, and of course the imposing Palamidi fortress that overlooks the city dated from the Venetian era.
